Impacting Generations Day One:
Dear Students, Parents, Staff and Leadership,
Today I welcome you to the 2016-2017 academic year. We are on a journey together with a shared objective of forging new frontiers in education. Our schools were launched 18 years ago with a founding vision of shaping our students into our community’s future leaders. Today we honor that commitment by offering a truly unique collegiate experience for our more than 800 students in kindergarten through high school.
Our dedicated educators are preparing our students in grades K-8 to enter college in high school at our Frank L. Madla campus. Through our partnership with UTSA, we use the National Accelerated Schools model to facilitate academic instruction. This model applies real life situations to our learning, builds on our students’ prior knowledge and empowers our students to take ownership of their education on their path to and through college.
We continue to experience incredible success at our Frank L. Madla Early College High School as a result of the drive and commitment from our students, families and extraordinary staff. In the past three semesters, our students have earned over 1,000 college credit hours saving their families more than $150,000 in college expenses.
The Southside of San Antonio is seeing tremendous growth and our district is actively engaged in expansion discussions with city developers. We hope you will join us in these discussions by attending our town halls and meetings throughout the year.
I, along with the Board of Trustees, extend wishes for a successful academic year to each of you. Together we will impact generations to come… one student at a time!
